Words that trip you up.

I'm poking fun at myself here. This may just be a bit of dyslexia messing with me. I’ve never been diagnosed, but there are just some words, that for some reason my brain feels the need to twist.

One in particular is Unite.

Unite – to bring together, to combine, to join, to adhere, (you get the idea).

Whenever I see this word, my brain sees

Untie – to undo, to loosen, to free, to separate, (you get the idea).

And vice versa.

It happens almost every time I see either of these two words and I love how they mean the exact opposite. Just by swapping the “I” and “t” you completely undo or combine everything. Ha ha ha.

Makes for some funny reading. Just try it. Think of the Untied Nations, or Uniting your shoes. *snicker*

So what words, if any, trip you up?

ooo, more words than I can count! I always end up typing my husband's name (thomas) when I am going for hotmail...on the word "don't" somehow the apostrophe always ends up on the outside of all the letters (dont'). And then there are the words that I just have to type really, really slowly to get all the letters in...like ridiculous (that one is always problematic for me!) and legitimate (not sure why that one trips me up, but it does) :D LOL I'll probably (ooo! that's another one! The 'L' always ends up in different spots!) be catching myself doing this all day now :D

Hmm, I'm gonna have to think about this. I know there are words I mess up, I just can't think of any off the top of my head. Very funny about you though. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Oooh, I do that too Michelle. My apostrophes always end up in the wrong spot. ( glad I am not the only one.)

I have typing dyslexia for words too. anything with an -ing always starts off as -ign, and the word like is almost always liek the first time I type it. Ugh!!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I always love finding new writer's blogs to follow. I don't have any words that trip me up, but I do have a thing or two to add to your post about editors from yesterday. I've recently started to use a professional editor to help me through my books. I did it mainly because I don't have the time to participate in critique groups. But now that I'm doing it, I absolutely love it. I have someone who I'm paying to criticize me, and the more the better! She doesn't have to worry in the least about hurting my feelings. It's her job. And she's great at it. She will help me bring my book up a notch.

Yes, it's super expensive. I actually caught mine when she was doing a special, so I could end up saving a couple hundred dollars. But I look at it as an investment in my business. Someday I hope I can earn it back!

Jody, mind sharing who you are using or how you found your editor?

Thanks for stopping by the blog. Always nice to chat with other writers!

Ha, wow! Yes, I know there's some words like that for me, too, but I can't think of them at the moment. I'll bet it's frustrating at times! I know there's words I always type wrong, too. Like restauraunt.... see it's misspelled. I can never get that one right the first time!
